The funeral rites for the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and the other 11 military officers killed in the ill-fated military aircraft crash that occurred in Kaduna state on Friday, May 21, is ongoing in Abuja. The bodies of the deceased military officers were conveyed from Kaduna state to Abuja this morning and will be buried at the Military cemetery. A funeral service was held at the Air Force Protestant Church at the Air Force base in Abuja for the Christian officers and the National Mosque in Abuja for the Muslim officers. army

The Defence Headquarters has blamed the plane crash which killed the Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other military personnel on bad weather.  Defence Spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu who disclosed that the sad incident which occurred after the aircraft landed at the Kaduna International Airport due to inclement weather, added that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Lucky Irabor has directed that an Accident Investigation Board be constituted to unravel the immediate and remote cause(s) of the unfortunate accident. A former Chief Judge in Anambra state, Rtd. Justice Paul Obidigwe, was attacked on Sunday with houses burnt in a communal clash between Anaku and Omor communities in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state. A source, disclosed that “About nine persons, including the former Chief Judge, were injured; with two persons in critical condition, while three houses, including that of a former Commissioner in the state, were razed.” “The clash might not be unconnected with an age-long land dispute between the two communities, with the recent being triggered by some youths from Omor community, with a reprisal attack by Anaku youths.” “Some youths from Anaku community attacked the former Chief Judge from Omor town and inflicted on him machete cuts. Imo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry, probing cases of police brutality, has recommended that 125 petitioners should be compensated after being brutalized by men of the Nigerian police force. This was revealed by the secretary to the panel, Mr. Isaac Oguzie. He said 20 petitions were struck out for lacking in merit while nine memos were received from interested stakeholders. The panel received a total of 154 petitions and was led by Justice Florence Duruoha-Igwe led panel. The memos, according to Oguzie, were from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Youth for Positive Action, and Students Union Government. Others were from local government areas and the police whose facilities were destroyed during the protests. Popular Nigerian trans-woman, Miss Sahhara has reacted to the imprisonment of two Cameroonian transgender women.   LIB reported earlier that Shakiro, a popular social media figure in , and Patricia were convicted of “attempting homosexuality” and sentenced to five years in prison. The abductors of a pastor with the Deeper Life Bible Church in Ondo state, Otamayomi Ogedengbe, have contacted his family, demanding a ransom of N30 million.  Ogedengbe, a native of Akungba Akoko in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state, was kidnapped from his church premises along Irese Road in Akure around 8.37pm on Monday, May 10.
